KAHMANN GALLERY
Kahmann Gallery was founded late 2004 by collector and entrepreneur Roy Kahmann. While the original concept was to focus purely on Dutch vintage photography, the scope has broadened over time to include international photographers and younger talents. Kahmann Gallery is as a specialist in the presentation and sale of exclusive fine art photography that has either made history or will most likely do so. Kahmann Gallery acts also as an art dealer and adviser for the acquisition of photography for companies or corporate collections.
The gallery is also a supporter of new photography talent and has created Kahmann Gallery LAB to coach these artists on their first steps into the art world.
About Talent Development
Supporting and coaching young photographic talent in the art world is crucial to foster the future of photography. Roy Kahmann is a name that stands out when discussing individuals dedicated to the growth and development of emerging photographers. As the founder and director of Kahmann Gallery in Amsterdam, he has been committed for years to promoting young talent in the world of photography.
Kahmann is one of the most influential figures in the Dutch and international (art) photography world. His involvement in photography began in the '80s when he worked as a designer for various leading design agencies. Through his personal involvement in the field, Kahmann has developed a profound understanding of the challenges that emerging photographers face and the opportunities available to them.
One of the most remarkable aspects of Kahmann's contribution to talent development is the establishment of Kahmann Gallery. The gallery has positioned itself as a leading platform for contemporary photography, with a specific focus on emerging talent. The gallery regularly organizes exhibitions where young photographers have the opportunity to showcase their work to a broader audience. This not only grants these artists recognition but also the chance to expand their network and advance their careers.
What makes Kahmann's approach unique is his personal involvement. He goes beyond merely providing an exhibition space and acts as a mentor to the artists he represents, sharing his extensive knowledge and experience to help them grow in their art. This personal approach has greatly assisted many emerging artists in refining their narratives and finding their own artistic voices.
Another aspect of Kahmann's work is his involvement in educational initiatives. He conducts lectures, workshops, and panel discussions to share knowledge and inspire young photographers. These educational efforts are invaluable in guiding emerging talent and promoting the art of photography.
The impact of Kahmann's work in the world of photography is significant. Through his dedication to financially supporting and coaching young photographic talent, he has contributed to increasing the visibility and appreciation of photography as an art form. His gallery has helped promising artists break into the art market and establish their reputation as established photographers. Additionally, Kahmann's emphasis on education has led to greater awareness and understanding of photography among both artists and the public.
Furthermore, Kahmann has been publishing books and magazines about and featuring photographic talent for over 18 years. Renowned publications like GUP Magazine, as well as the NEW Talent and Fresh Eyes books, have provided a platform for numerous talents in recent years, aiding them in their later careers.
